Holy Trinity is has an immediate opening for the Director of Maintenance and Grounds. The position (in the Church referred to as the Sexton) is a full-time, exempt position, requiring 35 hours per work week as well  as on-call status for maintenance and custodial duties.

Position Description: The Sexton would be responsible for the following tasks: Weekly Custodial Responsibilities including the maintenance of the Church, Pastoral Center, Chapel, and other buildings, including bathrooms. Regular and Emergent Maintenance of all Heating and Air Conditioning, Plumbing, Electrical and Lighting (Interior and Exterior). Maintenance of Parish Rectory interior and exterior. Lawn and Grounds Care. Management of External Contractors (Pest Control, Rectory Cleaning, HVAC, etc.) Environment for Pastoral Center and other areas, preparing and cleaning up after events, receptions, and worship. Maintenance of Relationships with other external vendors and suppliers. 24-hour on-call status for parish facilities’ emergencies.

The Sexton/Director of Maintenance is assisted by a part-time employee to assist with custodial and other matters. Rectory cleaning, pest control, HVAC, and security systems are maintained by external vendors.

Qualifications: The Sexton position requires a working knowledge of the systems and infrastructure of the Holy Trinity Campus. Experience working, at least minimally, with the mechanics and function of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and structural buildings is essential. Expertise in woodworking, painting, installation, and mechanics should be obtained or learned. Willingness to pay attention to detail, particularly in creating a hospitable and welcoming environment is also necessary. The Sexton hours are typically early morning (7am) into early afternoon. No scheduled evening or weekend hours are regular, though they may be required occasionally. Strong preference for former military or military experience. The Sexton will need to be physically active and able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), be able to stand and complete tasks for prolonged periods of time. The Sexton must not have physical limitations that would prevent him from performing significant physical tasks. The candidate must have a clean criminal history, active driver’s license, and be able to complete required background checks and clearances.
