Families with Young Children

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN

Holy Trinity is fully committed to the protection of all children entrusted to our care.  We are a safe place for your children to be raised and we will not relent in ensuring their safety, so that they are able to thrive and grow.  For more information about how we work to provide for their safe nurturing, please see this page.

CHILDREN ARE WELCOME IN MASS

If you have ever worshiped in a Church and felt uncomfortable or hushed by others when your young ones make noise, you will know relief when worshiping at Holy Trinity.  Our pews are filled with young ones, some louder and fussier than others, and we want them to always feel welcome to stay with their families at Mass.  In order to support the spiritual life of parents, we do provide many opportunities for you to worship with young children – and leave that decision up to the parents.  If your children become a bit unruly or loud, feel free to step to the back of the Church, or use a cry room, but please do come back at an appropriate time.  We’re glad to have the whole family with us, while providing the options below to assist you.

NURSERY

Holy Trinity offers a nursery to all registered parishioners and guests during the 0900 and 1100 Mass each Sunday, and often for Holy Days of Obligation.  The nursery is located in the Pastoral Center directly across from the church and is staffed by professional, paid Catholic childcare providers.  There is no charge for using the nursery.

CRY ROOM

For families who choose not to use the nursery, a cry room is located in the balcony of the church.  Parents may access the cry room through staircase in the narthex (entryway) of the church.  Parents and families are encouraged to use appropriate posture and to participate in the prayers of the Church as if they were in the main nave.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

To help children participate more fully in the Mass, the Liturgy of the Word with Children is offered during the 9:00 am Mass on Sundays throughout the year and summer.  Children ages 4-6 years are invited to participate.

After the Introductory Rites and Opening Collect at Mass, a team of volunteers bring the children to their own Liturgy of the Word.  The Scriptures are read from an approved Catholic text especially for children.  The Psalm and Gospel Acclamation are sung.  The Gospel reflection and discussion helps them to understand what God is saying and how to live the message.  The children profess their faith and offer prayers from their hearts.  The children then return to their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
